This 6-week series will introduce you to beginner hula hoop tricks and how to transition between them with grace and flow.
Whether you are a complete newbie to hula hoop dance or have some experience, this class will help you learn and hone foundational skills like:
- On body hooping including waist, shoulders, chest, and knee hooping
- Vortex (seamlessly removing the hoop off of the body from the waist)
- Breaks
- Forward weave
- Backwards weave
- Escalators
- Wedgie
- Isolations
Students can bring their own hoop if they have one. Hoops will be provided to anyone who does not have one.
About Hoop Dance
Hula Hoops from the 50s were small colorful plastic tubes made primarily for children to play and exercise. Today, hula hooping has come full circle. This new form of movement is a full-body exercise that moves the hoop around your body completing “tricks” on and off your body all while you are having fun dancing to the music of your choice.
Alternatively, Hoop Dance has taken the form of therapy, combining meditation, yoga, and dance to achieve a state of flow within the mind and body. Hoop dance is for all ages and all body types.
